Semi Inground Metric Series Swimming Pool

Why A Semi Inground?

You may be asking yourself, What is the point of a semi inground pool? A semi inground swimming pool is designed to be buried in the ground. Unlike sheet wall swimming pools. This particular semi inground pool had 2 inch thick walls filled with styrofoam. These walls are able to withstand corrosion when buried. Compared to sheet wall pools which has a milled out thin wall that is flexible and easy to creese. If you bury your sheet wall pool it will last you anywhere from 10 – 15 years before you need to invest in a new swimming pool. This particular Semi Inground Pool has a lifetime fully transferable warranty. Meaning if any part of the pool fails at anytime, Radiant will replace those parts free of charge. If you decide to sell your home your warranty goes to the new homeowners.

What Goes Into Installing One?

Stage One. Locate, Excavate, and Assemble Pool

First things first. We must find out where the pool is going and determine how deep the pool will be. Once we have that part figured out we can begin the excavation. Depending on how deep the pool will be we can use a Bobcat or a Mini Excavator to dig out the pool. For Radiant Pools that are Oval, Rectangle or Freeform we need to dig out footings on the sides of the pool. These footings will be poured concrete. Once the footings are dug and the pool is marked out with paint we bring in the sand and we construct the pool.

Stage Two. Pour Concrete

So now we have our pool assembled and sand is inside the pool we can order concrete. Now there are different rules for how much concrete is needed depending on how deep the pool is buried. If the pool is less than two feet buried we only need to fill our footings with concrete. If the pool is more than two feet down we need to pour a concrete collar. The concrete collar goes around the base of the pool. This is to keep the pool from sinking as time goes on.

Stage Three. Liner, Filter and Lights

Stage 3 usually is also day 3. Once our concrete is cured we can spread the sand out and install the pool liner. Before the liner is installed it’s important to rinse and wipe down the walls. Sand on the wall can cause pin holes in the liner. The liners on Rectangle, Oval and Freeform pools have arrows to help line up the liner correctly. It’s important to hang the liner correct to prevent extra stress on your liners seams. After the liner is installed we hook up the filter and pool lights if there are any.

Stage Five. Backfilling The Pool

Once the electrician grounds the pool and filter we come back to backfill the pool if the pool was buried in the ground at any point. This is all done without the help of the bobcat. We backfill by hand and tamp the ground with a 10 inch tamp and tiers. If there is a lot of leftover dirt we will use the bobcat to regrade around the pool or stockpile the material on site if needed.
